Hÿss III: The Hÿssening

by the Hÿss

Bucky Hÿss III progresses their aggressive take of hardcore fuzz with unrelenting hook, dissonant chops and dynamic rhythm. There’s elements of punk, hardcore, stoner rock and metal present without pigeonholing themselves, yet retains an accessibility to fans who may pigeonhole themselves in one genre or another.

FDJ (Desert Psychlist) Elements of hardcore and new wave punk shaking hands with old school stoner fuzz, an unconventional mix it has to be said but one that ultimately works. Favorite track: Silvio.

For a new place / There's a snake to hide Keep it low all the way to the ground Fix your hair up / Get your ass in line Hell come from the shaft of the cursed mine Are they here yet? / Are they even watching? Are you listening to the Hÿssening? And give ‘em what they deserve 3x Not our first time / At this rodeo Not our first but our second time rodeo Season changes / We blow your mind each time Come to town to give you that sexy sound Are you listening? / Are you listening? Are you listening to the Hÿssening? And give ‘em what they deserve 3x I wish I was downtown, all the way downtown 2x I wish I was downtown, all the way down To make something of my life

Encased in ice / The land around him Nothing for miles / World unforgiving Toil and trouble / Something surrounding Speak to the dead / Just to get by Back in the day / You trade the beast for bone You'll find your way / To walk this tundra alone Stay with the clan / Power in numbers When it all comes crashing down / Try not to loose it all 1,000 years / Of elements and pressure One with the rocks and dirt / Cro-Magnon metal monkey Back in the day / You trade the beast for bone You'll find your way / To walk this tundra alone

about

"[Hÿssening's] atmospheric guitar tones mesh with head-banging rhythm and the vocals have a nice gruffness about them. It’s a punchy hit, with plenty of vigor, and enough of The Hÿss’ instrumental oddities to really stand out. On the one hand, Hÿss III can be enjoyed as an eclectic blast of groove. On the other, it’s a shape-shifting and evolved showcase of ideas that excite and intrigue." - GBHBL

"Good points – fucking amazing bass sound. The bass makes you want to shake your ass like a room full of cloned Nicki Minaj-es all twerking simultaneously. If it doesn’t collapse first. The bass is thunderous. The guitar work is also fucking great. The band use unusual sound textures and combinations in their songwriting to lend the band’s sound an uncomfortable, febrile quality..." - Ever Metal
